Leaders
are storytellers in that they continually cast a clear,
concise and compelling vision through story that captures
hearts.
It's an ancient story that began long ago but after years of scientific research, in 17 different fields,
analysts conclude that storytelling is our most powerful tool for
effective communication.

Deuteronomy
31:8 The LORD himself goes before youand will be
with you; he will never leave younor
forsake you. Do not be
afraid; do not be discouraged."
Matthew
28:20
"I am with you (plural) always, even to the end of
the age."
Church vs.
Ekklesia. Is there a difference?
God
created language. The bible describes Jesus as "The Word
that was God." So then, words are important to God as it is
his primary means to communicate who he is to us through understanding
given by he the Holy Spirit. The word "Church" translates
from a man made word "kirk" later "chirch" rather than from
scripture. In the bible, the word Church overlays the Greek word
"ekklesia". Ekklesia means "the called out
ones" or, the fuller meaning pulled forward from the Hebrew, an
"assembly of those called out by God". Further study
shows the word "Saint" is historically taken from the Latin
Vulgate translation. Saint overlays the Greek word "holy
one" or plural "holy ones" - "ones made holy by
God." Taking these two root words into account, a
clearer understanding of Ekklesia might be as an assembly of
those called out of the world and adopted into God's family by being
made holy by God. Jesus sends these very ones, that have
personally experienced his life, back into the world as witnesses of
his life, death and resurrection. They are not believing in an
idea of God as they have received the faith to know they have actually
met God
in Jesus Christ. ..
Listen
to Jesus rebuke a disciple whose affection is on
a building, even the most magnificently adorned building
originally designed by God to point to the Christ.
and
as Jesus came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and
what wonderful buildings!"
And Jesus said to him,
"Do you see these great buildings? There will be left here
not one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."
Mark 13:1-2
Our
faith is not by sight nor in things of wood, stone or metal
made by man. The bible calls such false faith Idolatry
when we make non-essentials essential. By promoting an
Institution as necessary false teachers make proselytes
trusting in something other than Jesus the Christ, the Son of
the living God. As Jesus said "the hour ...is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth"
not in a man made temple for there are no sacred or holy
places, only a people sacred to God made holy by Christ.
It is in God's redeemed people where He dwells and He is
manifest among them and worshipped when two or three gather in
Jesus name.
A
Building Story:
A
few years ago a congregation, very few in number with a wonderful piece of debt free property
centered in a growing part of the city,
invited a man to speak at an outreach event. When this
man entered the front doors for the first time; seeing the
beauty of the interior he exclaimed "I cannot
imagine why you're not packing them in here?!"
(Note: This man was/is an ordained Elder of a church.)
How
would you help him understand, with truth and grace, that
dead bricks don't reach people, but people redeemed by God, filled
with his Holy Spirit and led by Jesus and sent together with
Him reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ which alone
is the power of God unto salvation?
On one occasion
a visitor was admiring the magnificent architecture of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, Dr. Kennedy chided
saying:
“Don’t be too impressed by
externals...” he said. “I wish I could tell you that all the members of my congregation were saved, but I cannot. I cannot even tell you that all of my staff are saved. I cannot even tell you that all of my pastors and elders are saved. In fact just
recently one of our ministers was converted! I will not tell you how many Presbyterian, congregations he had already served before being brought to Christ.”
